  • Here is how Eastern Michigan University handled their investigation when 1 student athlete talked to their Faculty Compliance Associate.

Here is a recording of a meeting with the entire 2012 team led by Jazmine Gordan with Eric Sexton. What happened afterward?? The coach was informed. But with the new deal at least the athletes have a better communication line with the AD???

Even try to compare Eastern Michigan University's investigation to the joke of a listening tour that just took place..

Another interesting tidbit is a number of the athletes that are in this meeting gave testimony in the current investigation that was completely contradictory to their statements in this recording. Hmm. One of them even just got a job offer in Tenn. and a car. I could only wonder what for. I also wonder what other payoffs are still on the table for a favorable statement.

And don't think this recording is new, I understand that this was known during the investigation.

Then when I quit my job tell everyone I was fired so no one would question what was going on. Then show no record of me even working there. I don't even think that happens in the "real" world.

Would be very nice to have an independent investigation....the number of players and two starters leaves too many questions. Something is just not right......
The real world also isn't run by 17-22 year old kids and we don't get paid in lollipops and candy canes. My comment was in response to an idiotic generalization of our athletic program.

And last I checked, the student athletes get about $15 million+ in tuition, books, room, board and other aid. They ARE coming first.

I heard rumors that this existed and I have heard there is MUCH MUCH more......independent investigation must be done!! So much for open communication with the AD, looks like it has already been done!

        • It also sounds like the Sports Psychologist thing is nothing new either if I understood correctly that they had one involved with these players in 2012.

Fortunately I could care less about what you think, so you can take your holier than thou attitude and shove it. I have a right to my opinion, and I know several in agreement. If that makes us idiotic then so be it. I could care less what you think. Congratulations jackass, you have now made my block list

              • I would like to know if this information was made available to Dr. Bardo and the internal "listening" tour? This is VERY disturbing.....

This tape was made available to Dr Scherz and Dr Bardo. The NCAA also has a copy of it.

If this is what you are supporting to get the money flowing in then I want no part of it.....Student-Athletes deserve better than this!

                    • I haven't logged in Shockernet in many months. But a friend text me and pointed out how bad this thread has turned.

I am a big supporter of ALL WSU sports, and student athletes. I know and personally interact with many former players, some of who spent whole college career with the Shox, and some who have left. There is a recurring theme.

When we are losing, many players spend the entire time at our school. When we are winning, it seems many more transfer out for other opportunities.

I dont know @VOTS:. Never met them, don't believe I even know their name. But I do know reading this thread that there are many truths to what he says, and many truths to what the players are saying.

There are hundreds of good college coaches that have experienced some success and are very popular with players. The. There are a few great coaches who have achieved amazing success with their programs. The difference between these types of coaches is how they run their program. Running a top level program in D1 is tough. Tough on coaches, players, parents, and fans. Each player has to decide of the program is the right fit, or whether they are not "cut out" for that program.

Duke basketball, UCONN womens, LSU baseball, Alabama football, and all other top of the heap programs have turnover. Why? Players are recruited for talent, but the fit isn't right, then they leave. Every player has to decide what is best for them. Some stick it out, others aren't able to. That is not a knock on them, or the coaches. Just they didnt fit.

Building a culture of winning is tough and demanding. I was part of a very successful college program that I didnt fit with. I left the program. Yes, I could have argued that "every athlete isnt treated the same" and that I was a good enough player to be successful but wasnt. I got yelled at, cussed, ridiculed, and made to do extra drills. Those who could do what was asked enjoyed being made better and thrived. Some of us didnt have it. But I found success elsewhere in a program that fit me. We didnt win a championship but I enjoyed the experience.

The end game of this will be unhappy for one side or the other. I will continue to support ALL who ever wore the Shocker uniform, but at the end of the day, unless you are the player (or her parents) that that c**t DA put against the wall, you should find happiness in finding your fit at a program where you can enjoy your college career.

PS - DA should have been escorted out the door with her box of belongings that day and never allowed to set foot on WSU campus again. That is on the AD and Administration. And "that day" is in reference to many things I and people I trust witnessed. Our program deserved better than that piece of crap.

                      That is all.

Well someone did hire the DA and then someone ran off her top assistant so she could promote the DA and then after the DA assaulted the player she called the player a liar and made the player apologize to the DA. So someone definitely empowered the DA.

                              • I, too, had heard this recording existed but to listen to it firsthand is even more disturbing than I expected. For those who know these players even slightly, it's easy to distinguish which players who are speaking. It's also clear to hear the passion (and hurt) in their voices. For anyone who questioned the allegations, this tape should lay to rest the doubt. For the skeptics, who found it "hard to believe the rumors" that such incidents were reported to proper channels previously... here is a recording of girls who are crying out for help to their athletic director. I count eight players maybe... major role players... from a championship team... one who is playing in the WNBA now... Wow, this is powerful! So much for that theory that the girls who complained were not good enough, or not tough enough!? The #1 question I have after listening to this recording is why have two of these girls since been quoted in support of Jody? If they were so passionate about her "mental abuse" in 2012... what has changed since that time? Has the press misquoted? Is something being held over the players heads now? Do they depend on Jody's reference for work? The statements made here certainly seem to discredit atleast two statements of support made last month.
